One of the last remaining 2016 BOTY competitions has been completed, and things are heating up for the last push of the season. In speaking with Alex and David of the MoB, they had the following to say:
“This year’s Members of Barleyment & Beau’s Oktoberfest Homebrew Competition was a great success, thanks to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and entrants. We received over 360 entries from coast to coast–even got some from Calgary. Congratulations to Michal Foniok, who will get to brew a commercial version of his recipe at Beau’s! Michal, of the Cowtown Yeast Wranglers, won the BJCP-sanctioned portion of the competition with his German Leichtbier, “Ja, Genau!”. Other notables are Chris Nowlan (Cowtown Yeast Wranglers) with 32 medals and Cory Day (Vanbrewers) with 18 medals. Well done, fellas!
The People’s Choice Competition promotes beer literacy by encouraging attendees of Beau’s Oktoberfest to judge competition-worthy homebrew *to style* in head-to-head matchups. The event continues to become more popular every year. This year we served 3406 randomly paired samples over the course of the two day event. After tallying the votes, Adam Miller of the Members of Barleyment came out on top with his “Short Hop” AIPA. Adam will be brewing a batch on Beaus’ pilot system for sale at the brewery.”
Congratulations to all the entrants and victors in this competition!
